Sailing Questions

First; for a weekender boat that will handle extended vacation trips, what is the biggest you can sail with two or three aboard?? I know it will be years away but I want to have a game plan for my semi-retirement, i.e. boat size and type for my wife and I to cruise for a week or so at a time. Oh yea...

I was looking at the Corsair 13 due to your advice. So you think the AD 14 would be a better choice? I won't be going out rough seas but know that when the wind is blowing good the bays are pretty choppy. I agree with you on the simplicity, size and ease/time of building issues and the AD 14 will be...

Which of those boats will handle chop well. I, as mentioned, will be in big bays and in the Gulf of Mexico along the coast.

Thanks, I like the idea or the camp/cruise but I think from a realistic view I need, like you said a smaller more simple layout to hone my skills on first. I also want to finish it in a reasonable amount of time (i.e. the lower the cost and complexity the quicker the build). A couple of things that ...

First sail boat

I haven't been sailing in 25 years but used to go out on a 16' Hobie cat alot as well as sunfish. I want to build a sail boat to build sailing skills on, and eventually move up to a 20' to 24' boat. I like the idea of the AD's for their cabin areas but I don't have the experience to choose. A little...

Glass work on a 1976 Wellcraft

I have a friend that needs to take some clients out on his 1976 21' Wellcraft and asked about some help on some repairs. One is to replace part of one of the bulkheads and the other is what he called a "flange" but I think it is just a tapped seam. I'm pretty sure the hull is pollyester re...

It's a good boat but I'll stick with Jaque's Texas bay sled! When those of us that are going to build it finish them I think there will be some buzz about them around here. Also Jaques, You said 10mm, 9mm is 3/8" so is that what you meant?

Isn't the OD16 16'6"? Building it 1' longer would make it 17'6". If you took 1' off of the OD 18 (like Jaques mentioned) it would be 17' and from what I've read on the board, it would be eaiser to shorten than to lengthen(unless Ken can lend you a boat stretcher).
