Re: Rod building
Been a while since I've been on here, so getting caught up on a couple threads that caught my eye! Really PRETTY work CL your patience bewilders me. You can wrap rods for me anytime! I saw you were considering a spinner and mentioned the St. Croix's. I have actually built 5 (2 are my own the others ...

Re: Stand Up Paddleboard
Been a while since I've been on here with two boys under three now keepin' me busy. My boat build has been put on hold but still in the plans, I have shifted more toward getting some comp-sand surf and paddleboards going. With that I will give another alternative...1-1.5 lb EPS core with 3/32 or 1/8...

Re: Layup schedule - foam core hull - PH18
Mark, I would'nt bet on that lam scedule. I would guess 1/2 H80 would be the minimum, maybe thicker ( although I think 1/2 in. would be fine) and possibly H100 or more dense. If You don't hear back from Jacques maybe contact Diab. As for glassing it will take much more than just one layer of 17oz DB...

Re: Fast Skiff 17 v. Outboard Skiff 17
I have both plans and this is what I can tell you about the two. Max. waterline beam OB17>FS17 (by about 4 inches), deadrise throughout OB17> FS17 (by about 3 degrees @ the transom and 10 degrees @ the cutwater), overall beam FS17>OB17 ( means more flare to the sides on the FS17), sheer as planned O...

Re: OSB or MDF for throw away molds
Thanks for the responses guys! :D Guess I'll just buck up and get the MDF because there is no telling how quickly (or slowly) the panels will get stitched up. SWMBO gives me only very small bits of time to work with and between surfing, fishing and boat building how long the boat will be in each sta...

Re: OSB or MDF for throw away molds
Yeah that is what I was told at the big box store. Is OSB acceptable or would I possibly encounter problems with the flex or warpage if I used it?
Anyone used it? Tell me about your gripe or success. Just for reference I am building a low sheer OB17.

OSB or MDF for throw away molds
Okay here is my dilemma I was wondering if one or the other is clearly better than the other?? I know Joel uses MDF but I have seen that some guys have used OSB. OSB is $6 a sheet as compared to $19 a sheet for the MDF, so is the MDF worth th extra cost for a throw away piece? Is one stiffer or more...

Re: ph18 out of corecell? is this possible
Corecell should be able to do anything divinycell can. It is very similar in all properties to divinycell except shear elongation (read toughness) where it is much higher=better. In many builders opinions it is the premium core for hulls, especially bottoms for that matter where slamming loads are h...

Re: FS17 Scaling Questions
You guys are correct, I started thinking about the panel shape thing after I posted that and as long as every dimension is increased by the given % everything works out. I would agree with Tom regarding hp, I think a 60 or 70 should definitely get it done.
