Re: Tiny Speedboat Build

So cool. I can't get over all the things you can do so well. Depending on my mood, it's either intimidation or inspiring 8O

Re: Sk14 questions before purchasing plans

I built one and use it in a local lake. Mine has a 5 horse outboard on the back and a spot lock trolling motor on the nose. I took a boat's wake over the nose one day and the water drained immediately, so no trouble there. It doesn't paddle easily though, maybe because of my two motor's weight. I do...

Re: Tiny Speedboat Build

Sure looks good. I like the angle iron touch. I have never tried to heat, bend and epoxy it though. Pretty sure I'd make a mess of it

Re: LM 18 Build in Austin

Looks good and I know it's fun. I've never used a Jet drive but have always thought they'd be great in our bays. No digging up the grass on hole shot as you say or dinging the prop. Neat build.

Re: Ez-Fillet hard enough on puzzle joints? (LM 18)

I lean towards Fuzz's last post. That's why I suggested setting it in the Texas sun a few days. I had a batch do that years ago that finally hardened up, but don't remember how long it took. I'd try to sand it too, then be sure it has several days at 80 degrees and higher.

Re: Ez-Fillet hard enough on puzzle joints? (LM 18)

Since it's been a week this is probably a long shot, but it may be worth it to set in in full sun on for a few days if you haven't. Maybe it will harden up a bit more.

Re: SK14 extra floatation do or don’t

Yes to try weight in the nose first off, unless that's already been done. And yes to no foam in pods.

Re: SK14 extra floatation do or don’t

Well, here's a crazy idea. Glue up a couple of pods with cheapo thin ply, open at the top. Then clamp 'em in place on the transom and float her. Climb in and see what they do. If they don't lift the stern enough get out and clamp 'em further down (below the waterline) till they seem to do the job. T...

Re: SK14 extra floatation do or don’t

Seems like that would require pretty big pods. Water line on mine is maybe 4", so for me a square foot pod would only be 1/3 of submerged volume, or 20 lbs (40 for both of them). Done quick in my head, maybe wrong. Fool around with a pen and pencil and see what you get with whatever size pods y...
