Re: Cove and Bead Strips from Plywood

My guess is that it would not be strong enough. Once you cut the ply into strips the glue joint is reduced to a very small area which is why it requires so much material to scarf.

Thanks for the ideas.

Re: Cove and Bead Strips from Plywood

Thanks for the responses. I had already looked into building a jig for my router or skilsaw so that is what I'll do. I just thought that IF your CNC table was set up for it it would be clean and perfect. I do understand the potential shipping damages and the same had crossed my mind. I am going to s...

Re: Madisonville, La Wooden Boat Festival

Nort,

I've not been very active on the site lately but glad to hear of others who support the LPB Maritime Museum show. I attend nearly every year but did miss this one. I'll do better next year and hope to see you then.

Cove and Bead Strips from Plywood

Joel or anyone else who would care to comment, I am planning a build that requires 0.75" x 1.0" cove and bead strips, 16' to 17' long if I do solid wood with no joints. I am interested in the idea of scarfs/puzzle joints cut by the CNC machine in 3/4" ply. I could then glue them up at...

Re: TX18

I believe we're on the same track. I am finishing the restoration of another production boat this month but when it's done and the weather cools a bit I will be looking for something to do. This could be the ticket.

Thanks Jacques.

Re: TX18

Jacques, I have been putting some great thought into the depth and from my best recollection I believe the Sled was about 8" deep at the rear of the cockpit to make it easy to step out. I would like it to be 18"-20" in the stern and have basically the same shear line as the flats vers...

Re: TX18

I sold mine about 5 years ago. I spent a good bit of time tracking it down recently and found it in a barn in the middle of nowhere! I took cash, knocked on the owners door and begged to buy it back but without hesitating he said "no". It broke my heart at first but later I realized it was...

Re: Runabout, powered by PWC

I've considered this for a long time. I am a big fan of jets as I grew up with them both large and small). There was an article several years ago in Wooden Boat where someone designed and built a scaled down Jonesport Lobster boat with a kawasaki engine. They were very pleased with its performance, ...

9mm Meranti availability

Joel/e-boat, Just wondered when you expected some 9mm Meranti again? I am in need of 1 sheet and I was wondering if you could cut it cross-sheet into 2-26" wide panels (26x48) and be able to ship it UPS? I have a pile of 1/4" but need these 9mm pieces to build some new hatches for an older...
