Re: FB11 Prometheus

Before we cut her in half or twice the half boat she used to be first we need some bulkheads. I ran into a bit of trouble here as the bulkhead frame would not fit properly so i had to adjust the sizing a bit. So the first bulkhead was fitted resonably on the line but was Bowed due to the pressure of...

Re: FB11 Prometheus

I just wonder why you tape jointed the backsides of the scarf joints ? Did you not trust the glue between the scarfs of your long panels ? The plans said to tape join both sides of the scarf joint. That's the only reason. I'll keep the pictures comming yesterday i cut her in half. SHe's now half th...

Flip her on her back and round her over.

So inside looks good nice and strong tape adhered verry nicely. So flipped her over and rounded all the chines etc with a good woodplane. GREAT for removing thickend epoxy quickly without alot of mess. Be carefull around wood edges though until you get the hang of it. Got the idea from Tips from a s...

Re: FB11 Prometheus

Hi, Great work. I've bookmarked the jig for later reference. In Jacques' designs, it is my understanding that, at least in my plans, the butt joints are doubled where the frames meet the hull, thus spreading out the load at the frames and avoiding a hard spot. I could not find the butt joint locatio...

snitches get stiches

Let's stich her up. some pannels where verry hard to conform to the shape mostly used tiewraps but some places needed copper to twist the pannels together. in the end got it to work. Made it without a strongback but to work on her further i made some stands to have easyer access. next up filets galo...

Re: FB11 Prometheus

I find it's stronger i tried 3 separate options Butt block verry easy but you end up with a doubler and on this design it would be verry hard to get a nice result. Routered Lap Joint was doable but hard to keep exact even with jigs and a router. And on the edges i found it was kinda flimsy. scarf jo...

After a bit of a break im back at it building a FB11 nesting dingy. had a bit of trouble starting my build because i wanted to scarf the panels but had no idea to accomplish this without having to sand a scarf joint. So i started looking and came across a nice web tutorial and i figured id give it a...
