You'll be fine with stain under epoxy. Just coat the epoxy topcoat with a QUALITY varnish.

I've never shot S3 products. I would consult the manufactuer. BUT, with my experience with experimenting with different paints (lacquer, enamel, oil based, etc) it should be ok. 1.8's are primarily used for "filler primers" in body shops. Those products are pretty high solids. I guess it w...
