Re: Project TW28

Dear Colin, The bow of the Luka was also a little high and if I remember correctly Ilker had the same observation. So I alsohad to put some ballast at the bow and a lot of equipment. Fortunately there is a lot of space below the berth. Perhaps I should have put my water tanks up front instead of bel...

Re: TW28 Build 'My Time'

Hello, Welcome. The TW28 is a great boat. You will enjoy it. We just finished a 7 week trip to Friesland (Northern Netherlands) and had a great time. Allard and Luppie (The Stoere Meid) made a 6-month trip to Germany this year, great adventure. There is a lot of wisdom and good advise above about gl...

an air bubble trapped under the compass card itself.
Exactly. A small air bubble at the top is often there and generally does not interfere.

Re: 28' Trawler (TW28) build boat speed

Hull speed depends on the length of the waterline.
Weight will affect acceleration rate, not hull speed. Of course, when you are heavily loaded and have to displace more water, you will need more HP to attain hull speed.

Re: Trawler 28 engine recommendations (tw28)

There a a number of engines based on a Kubota or Mitshubishi block that are good and cheaper.
Look at the tw28 builds in the Builder's section.

Re: 28' Trawler (TW28) build boat speed

For what it is worth, my understanding of the limits of the hull speed is as follow. The distance between two waves created by the movement of the hull at hull speed is equal to the length of the hull. At higher speeds this distance becomes larger than the length of the hull. The first wave is at th...

Re: TW28 for Adriatic Sea

Dario, I have a very similar setup: 42 HP Mitsubishi, TMC60 with 1:2.5 reduction, Python drive and 35 mm axle. The propeller is 19x13. Cruising speed is app 10 km/h at 1700 rpm. At 800-900 rpm speed is 6 km/h. For manoeuvring a lower speed would be easier, so perhaps the pitch is a little high. On t...

Re: knottyBuoyz III The TW28 Project

Rick, Nice t o hear all is well with you and the build. You have lots of space around your engine. Keep it like that, you will enjoy it. I am quite happy with the 28 feet of the Luka. But working at the engine and the drive train - and this will happen - is a pain. Then I am missing an extra 2 feet,...
