I chose the 10hp because of price and weight. It does fine with just me in the boat. I didnt expect it to plane with 2 large adults, but it is so close that it is worth tweaking. The motor reached its point where it bogged out. not over revved. The prop pitch is 7.5 inches. I think the only other pr...

GF-14 performance

Hello everyone, I finally test ran my gf-14 with my new outboard this weekend. Im running a 10hp Tohatsu 4 stroke. With 2 adults it just doesnt get up on plane. Almost, but no cigar. The bow lifts up and starts pushing water, but its just shy of popping ontop of the bow wave. We tried shifting weigh...

I WILL build another. But it will be years down the road. I promised my wife I would focus on the honey-do list around the house.

My oldest daughter will start college next year, and I do need some free time to enjoy this boat :D

Well, its been almost a year since my last post. BOAT IS READY TO SPLASH!! I modified a utility trailer to haul the boat because some places I go have no ramp. The boat sits on a bunk with rollers almost like a boat trailer. The bunk sits on the utility trailer. we fabricated rollers and a mount for...

On my GF14, first I epoxied 2 strips of 12mm ply across the bottom of the transom to beef it up. Then drilled a 1" hole with a forstner bit. I cut a brass drain tube to 1/8" longer than the thickness of the transom, and coated it with an epoxy/milled fiber slurry, and inserted it in the ho...

Thanks Joel, do you find that a heavier coat (relatively speaking) will level and flow better than a lighter coat? If I have to end up wet sanding and buffing the final coat, is it possible to achieve the same level of gloss that the unsanded paint has? I love the smooth semi -gloss finish the S3 cu...

S3-LPU advise

HI everyone, I painted the outside of my GF-14 this weekend, and I need some advise from the gurus really familiar with S3-LPU. I rolled and tipped about 5 coats of whidbey white (with crosslinker). The first 3 coats self levelled fine. the last 2 coats dried with obvious brush strokes. The temp sta...
