Re: Another side of boat building
It’s been 15 years since the first splash! The kids have grown up, the boats I mess with have sized up, but the joy that this little boat gives me every time I sail her remains the same! Thanks again to all the community in boatbuilder central for the inspiration and the encouragement! https://www.c...

Re: VG18 plywood
I have built a gunter rig for my other boat (a Hartley TINA) from prime quality swedish pine, but it is a heavy rig. I think a wooden mast is not appropriate for your boat. Building a really light wooden tall mast is out of the reach of the amateur builder IMHO and it will cost you as much in money ...

Re: Epoxy Confusion for CV 16
Try these guys, they are in Volos and their resins have been used for boat building. They are cheaper also. http://www.fibermaxcomposites.com/ Also, Neotex has fine resins form R&G, Germany, you can see their specs at http://www.r-g.de/en/ I have used their Resin-L and Hardener-L system with goo...

Re: VG18 plywood
The plywood is greek, produced by Shelman SA. Shelman had a dominant position in BS1088 plywood in the North East USA. The glue is reinforced Melamine-Formaldehyde. It is the same stuff that they use for the Marine BS1088 Lloyds certified plywood. I did a research in the internet and found that many...

Re: VG18 plywood
Thank you all. The plywood is the one called "SHELMAPLY" in the web page from the manufacturer site that follows. Unfortunatelly, the Shelmarine product at the bottom of the page is not marketed in Greece. All of it is exported to the US  http://www.shelman.gr/index.php?option=com_con...

VG18 plywood
Do you think that this plywood is OK to use for building the VG18? It is exterior, okume throughout, certified by CTB as exterior and by KOBO as Class-A. It has no voids in it, I have used 8mm sheets in the past. I am only concerned about the thickness of the face veneers. http://gallery.bateau2.com...

Re: CV 16 Frame Modification
Dimitri, can you tell me what plywood will you use for the CV16 and where will you buy from? I cannot find a source for okume BS 1088 in Athens.
Thanks
