CapeMan has a Yamaha 70 on his OD-18 and loves it. I would think both hulls would run close to the same with like power. Maybe he will see this and chime in.

Back when I joined builders would post their builds in the bottom forums. The upper ones were there mostly to ask the designer questions. That way he did not have to go through every post every day. For me I would want 2-2 1/2 of wood and then the glass. I have seen a rule of thumb that says one inch per hundred horse power but clearly that becomes crazy when you get over 3-4 hundred horses. That much 1700 should work just fine. But remember none of us are marine engineers so are just going off...
