For me I would want 2-2 1/2 of wood and then the glass. I have seen a rule of thumb that says one inch per hundred horse power but clearly that becomes crazy when you get over 3-4 hundred horses. That much 1700 should work just fine. But remember none of us are marine engineers so are just going off...

Do you have everything back like it was? If the grommet is missing or messed up you will not get full water pressure and it will not pee. Did you install a full new pump kit?
