Re: Rolling and tipping Awlgrip
Most epoxy primers I've come across (including the 545) dry very quick and will be very hard to get a good finish, but then you meed to sand anyway so don't worry about it. Sand with 320 for the topcoat. So long as you have the brush converter and correct thinner the topcoat should be easier.

Re: PNW CX 25 scaled up
Sorry, have to agree. Especially on the keel - that looks almost like it hasn't even seen any epoxy.

Re: tape joints outside vs inside vs rebated etc
I've been asked this a few times. I always go bigger to smaller. That's how West Systems described it in their guides and I'm not sure I've read anywhere that it should be the other way round. My theory is that if you do the smaller layer first then each layer only bonds a small amount onto the orig...

Re: Gel coat over epoxy primer
Gel coat will bond to epoxy. I think the reason people may think it doesn't is that polyester is not as good for mechanical bonding as epoxy is. That doesn't mean it won't bond - just that it won't bond as well as epoxy. For small repairs in gel coat I would have no issue doing a fiber repair with e...

Re: Air in my finished product
Are you using breather fabric on the underside? If not the bag may seal on the table around the panel and not allow the air to be drawn out from underneath.

Re: Minimax Hydro S&G
I looked at a few if those little boats and ended up designing and building my own version. See here - https://forums.bateau2.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=60103 I only had an old 4hp jonson outboard on it but could still just about get it up on plane with me (around 85kg) and hit 26kmh. I would think...

Re: Narfi's HC14
That looks great. Those bubbles are probably small enough that I wouldn't worry about them, but if they're only between the tape and the cloth you could just trim them out and fill them. I do see one potential problem though. It looks like you may have just glued the canoe to your support blocks. I ...

Re: C-17 Our first Build !
Can you not just leave the weights on while you glue it. Or put a few ties through the frame to hold it down.
