Re: “Low” energy air conditioning?

The smaller Mr. Cool DIY minisplit units run on 120V but their amerage is up near 20. Might be an option if you want to get a real AC unit for the cabin. Just a thought

Re: GT23

Ok, I'll take that advice. Sounds easy! ... well, sounds doable. What about the "two-layers" of cloth recommendation? Do y'all think that is wise? And must the second layer be laid down while the first layer is still curing? This would obviate the need to sand the whole bottom between lay...

Re: Cape Man's Dory

The day has arrived...35 years went by too fast. The camping and fishing gear are loaded on top of the car and we head out Wed morning for a night in Key West. Have a room reserved in Deadhorse Alaska for June 21-23 and plan on getting home in October. I'll post some key moments here as we go ala G...

Long story, sort of short... I am going through a divorce. Both of us are somewhat happy about it as we realize that we shouldn't have gotten married in the first place. We still can have lunch together are recently went to Legoland together. I've had brain surgery recently that has helped with my P...

My sympathies to the BBC crew and his family. The boating world lost a great designer.

Re: GT23

Thanks, everybody.... Hmmm... So the business of floating bow down (I am using the standard planing plans)....Is this a major problem? Enough to change to another build? Would it help to move weight aft? Another question, also re: transom: I've never before used vacuum bagging techniques on a build...

Re: GT23

Probably you know this but I recall there are two slightly different plans for the GT23. One is the standard planing hull and the other is the houseboat hull with I think a bit more volume forward. As I recall some folks had issues with the standard hull not floating on her lines (was bow down). Do...

Re: First time build, leaning towards FS17, should I reconsider the GV17, OD18, OB18, C17 or others?

Matt if you look at Jacques flats boats, the XF20, FS18, LM18, and even the PH18 all are 6" or under with XF20 at 2", the FS18 at 3.5", the LM18 at 3" and the PH18 at 6" for there DWL. Builders have reported those or just a bit more draft in their reports but nothing like 7...

Re: Southeast Alaska boat build

There is only one version of the plans now, the Houseboat version, or a slight compromise if any. The planing version had a bow-down issue that could not be fixed. I believe Jaques had to fix the designs to make one that would work. The houseboat version was the winner. I believe the GT23 could be j...
