Re: Canoes for Boy Scouts
Hiya, I have built and canoed in one of the HC14 models. I am halfway through building a second one right now. As far as ease of build I think they are very straightforward and don't seem to present too many problems at all. My issues have come from my own inexperience rather than the build difficul...

Re: HC14 Build Two
Well I've been back in the garage again! Thank goodness! There was a little break for the mother-in-law, a new baby and then my mother. I didn't do a lot of work during these visits. Then my heater broke... The baby is a boy named Barnabas Gabriel and he is a biggun. Born on December 19th, he weighe...

Re: HC16 draft
I can't make any official comment but I have built and paddled an HC14 with the same load and would think the draft is probably six inches or less.
Hope that helps!

Re: HC14 Build Two
I have moved on a bit now and need to post an update here. So here it goes - with some pictures! So I got the panels all glued together and assembled the bottom of the hull to the two lower chine panels. Here is what it looks like without any spot welds in place: http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/us...

Re: HC14 July 2012 - Maidstone, England
As I'm now building another HC14, I thought I would mention what I plan to do with the rubrail and solicit some suggestions. I don't like all of the paint getting dinged up on the rubrail so easily. So on this build I plan to leave the rubrails bright, round off the outer edge a bit, sand them very ...

Re: HC14 Build Two
So last night I flipped the panels with the able help of Andy, a guy in our church. We stuck some epoxy on with a foam roller and then placed glass tape on each middle joint. On top of that went some cheap plastic bin bags. On top of the bin bags I put on a long plank of wood and then put weights on...

Re: HC14 Build Two
Good idea!
Taped joints of panels earlier. I'll go have a look in the morning and make sure all is well.

HC14 Build Two
Hello All! I have started a second Hiawatha Canoe now and thought I would start another thread to keep you updated. So far I have only managed to cut out the rubrails and the hull shapes. After I finish this email I will fire up the heater and go epoxy the panels together in the middle to create the...

Re: WouldWork's V12, Sailing version
Congrats on the baby! My wife and I are expecting number four in a few weeks (or any day now as it might turn out). You can let me know how you get any work done with a little one! Maybe I can put ours in a baby sling and epoxy away!
