"I think that my engine is working pretty well - do you think that a change in prop would make that much difference to the speed? It hits about 5000 rpm at full throttle." The rule of thumb I heard regarding engine RPM/prop pitch is that for every inch in pitch, up or down, you can look fo...

I have had it up to 37 mph. However, I would not recommend that speed to anybody with this type of boat. Safety becomes an issue quickly as the boat wants to either start lofting or bury the bow. With the 90, and a 14" pitch prop, the boat is very stable at 28 mph and the motor is loafing. No s...

Check the Building Method http://boatplans-online.com/proddetail.php?prod=GF14. It explains when to check for symetry. I don't have plans for the GF16, but I'm sure the building notes have the info in there somewhere in more detail.
Good luck.

I think I'll run a PVC under the center of the console back to the motor well and out the transom. I'd like the pickup to be as low as possible to get cooler water. I don't mind a little water in the cockpit from drainage, but I don't like things on the sole that I'll either trip over or stub my toe...

When I built my V10, I used wooden dowel pieces on the inside of each stitch. I had to start at the transom and work my way forward. The bow was especially difficult and the first piece of ply actually broke before the bend was complete (cheap exterior ply). I think the plans actually suggest that y...
