Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

Thanks, Gary. They sent an inspection check sheet with it, along with the owners manual, and mounting bolts. The engine hours was listed at 266 hrs. The motor is very clean. Now I just need to get everything together so I can run it on the stand.

Re: Snookiehunter's gf18 w/ tunnel

I decided on the Mercury 60 Hp Bigfoot. It showed up today. I purchased it from AFA Marine, in St. Pete. It is everything that they promised it would be. It is very clean, and looks like a new motor. It looks like they made some type of skeg repair, or at least touch up painted it. There is one scra...

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

Thanks for the reply. So it looks like I'll go with the 4" set back. My motor showed up today, and after some measurements, I don't think I can raise it 4", before the top water intake hole is out of the water. I may mount the motor on the boat, to get a better idea, before I order the jac...

Re: High Thrust Motors on Tunnel Hulls

I built a basic XF20 and used a Bobs 6 inch setback jackplate. It is powered by an old but good 70 Yamaha 2-stroke. The water from the tunnel drops off before contacting the motor so I would recommend as little setback as you can get.I use a Powertech 13"x12' triple cup prop and it grips well....

Re: Questions on my 1st boat build

I'm with boys on this one. Buy a set of plans. Jauques' boats are all over the world. You will have way too much invested, not to start with a well designed plan. Plus, this forum has been awesome! I too, am a first time builder, and I am very happy with my results. Have you looked at the GF18?

Re: Topwaters NV23

She's looking really good. When you get a chance, could you post some some close up shots of the white Monstaliner? Noles used that on his GF16. I may use it on my GF18. Do you think it has a non-slip like texture to it? I noticed that you still plan on using KiwiGrip, also. I wonder if I could enco...

Re: Mark's PH18 in Toronto

That really looks sharp! Looks to me, like there has been a lot of thought into the hatch covers, among other things.
Also, I've got to get myself an amp/refrigerator. I would be able to hide my beers from "not so pleasant" company. They'll go away quicker if I don't have any beer.....

Re: Craigslist -deals-

I think I will be happy. It seems like a pretty good way to do business. They make a little, and the consumer can still get a decent deal.

Re: Craigslist -deals-

Yeah. Honestly, I am very nervous. I spent 5k, and I have never seen the motor. It wasn't at the shop in St Petersberg. It is up in Canada, somewhere near Niagra Falls. It is likely not the one in the picture. They aparantly have several of them, so I'm sure you can still get one. If you wait two we...
