Sorry, I haven't logged in since posting my question. Thank you for the responses. I decided to heat treat the PVC as recommended here and elsewhere. I passed a propane torch with spreader back and forth until the PVC was really hot on the surface. When I sanded it I could tell the structure had cha...

I glassed the entire outside since my sides and bottom are fir plywood. I didn't want the plywood to check on the outside. The fir really soaks up resin, so I'm not surprised I'm using a lot more than the 4 1/2 gallons supplied in the kit. It looks like I'll need about 6 1/2 total. I would guess I u...

PVC and Epoxy

I read in the System 3 Epoxy Book that their laminating resin bonds poorly to polyvinyl chloride (PVC pipe). But don't builders use regular PVC pipe (either the white for plumbing or gray for electrical) to run wires, cables, fuel lines, etc and seal around the outside of the pipe with epoxy where t...

I take back what I said bad about the System 3 epoxy primer. It goes on fine when thinned with 50/50 water and alcohol and then rolled with a 6 inch foam roller, just as Madrus said. Just don't try to brush it. It sands incredibly well. My outside is done except for the finish paint. My boat has bee...

Testing to see if I have been able to follow chrisobee's instructions correctly on how to post a picture..... If this works you should see a shot of the bow and a transom shot with the first coat of primer still wet. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/17051/normal_DSC00944.JPG http://gallery...

I'm glad you asked that question about the stringer height. I think I will cut mine down to 3 inches, but maybe only between the mid and rear seat where I'll be standing and sitting most of the time. Next week may have been too late as I plan to turn my boat over in about 5 days. I hope to finish fa...

Clearncalm's FS14

I think I have successfully created a gallery for my FS14 build. If I'm doing it right the link will follow. http://gallery.bateau2.comindex.php?cat=17051 It's not showing up blue, so it may not work. Let's see if it works. If not I'll try again. I'll be darned if I can figure out how to post a pict...

How to post photos?

Would someone please give me some instructions for posting photos to the forum and gallery, or tell me where I can find instructions, or a previous thread discussing it? I'm pretty good with most programs, but I'm stumped here.
