Re: PH18 w/tunnel

Good points Ken, you stick to the tunnels, and I'll stick to the plain hulls. Are you still a dealer for PowerTech have a couple guys coming up that I need to prop there boats and if you get a % I'll go through you if there numbers indicate a PT is right for there boats.

Re: OB17 - good first build for light coastal duties?

Glad to help my only concern was the 1/4" as it is the bottom and sides and take the pressure from the pounding of the boat especially the bottom. Steve can probably tell you the difference. There has been a lot of 1088 coming out of SE Asia that is not up to 1088 standards. I guess I'm saying ...

Re: OB17 - good first build for light coastal duties?

Garret Steve292 finished an FS17 a year ago so he may be able to help you find the best prices on what you need for your OB17. It's always good to have a network in your country to help each other. I hope this works but here is his email address. Well it did not so go to his site and email him from ...

Re: PH18 w/tunnel

I goofed to you guys! Don with the tunnel would of course not want the Skeg and would want the strakes out as far as they were as they were effective, probably 20". Don't know where he put them. The tunnel needs free flowing water. Casey if you go without the Skeg you want steering strakes and ...

Re: Scuppers?

In a 16' boat you are going to want scupper/drains through the transom. These should be pluggable from the inside as they will never be above the waterline on the outside. A 16' boat is just to small to have a self bailing deck. Here is a whole page of scuppers some that can be mounted directly to t...

Re: XF20 or OD18 Mods

Neat Paul good looking boat. Basically almost a catamaran then. Let me check them out vs what we have in the Bateau catalog. Paul looking at them I'm seeing a draft of 6" when at rest. When at full power they can run in inches of water. Something similar to Davids TX18 or worse. They are defina...

Re: Trailerable boat cover

If your going to do anything go with the boat cover. A tarp is not designed for the boat and won't fit properly. Some boat covers have vents to remove moisture.

For short tows I'd remove it at home and leave it. For long tows I'd leave it on after checking and tightening all the straps.

Re: XF20 or OD18 Mods

Hey Paul I would be interested in the boats that are being used down there. Are they production boats or home builds like ours.?

Flats boats can be very specialized as noted above and full of compromises.
