Re: 23 ft Hartley Cabin boat repair/rebuild and hull extension

I think that guy at DFI does something like a parts exchange - so you send him your old ones for repair and he sends you them or other reconditioned ones back. Surely if you did that from SA you wouldn't incur import duties because you can show yours were sent for repair? I do see he costs quite a b...

Re: 23 ft Hartley Cabin boat repair/rebuild and hull extension

That’s all good news - sounds like you are really getting there. I found with my FICHTs that issues compound each other and that starting with the key ones first and working through them logically tended to make the problems less than they initially seemed. I believe I used these guys in the US to g...

Re: Panga 25 With Bracket

The problem with using fuel further fwds to balance the boat is it changes as you use it up.

If you can it is better to move fixed objects - like the whole console with fuel under it and try and keep the fuel close to the Center of gravity

Re: Panga 25 With Bracket

What I’ve seen many people do is make a mounting/ place for the “get me home”‘engine on a Panga to live most of its life inside the boat. They only actually get hung on the transom when they are needed to get you home. So long as you don’t drop it overboard it means that they stay dry and better pro...

Re: 23 ft Hartley Cabin boat repair/rebuild and hull extension

... well your issues are beyond my ability other than to ask the simple question which is are you indexing your plugs? Certainly on my FICHTs you had to have them aligned in a certain way and annoyingly only certain plugs fit certain cylinders just right so you need a few extra plugs to get the ones...

Re: 23 ft Hartley Cabin boat repair/rebuild and hull extension

I had a FICHT RAM which was the predecessor to the Etec - and we have no support for them here - so I had to learn to muddle my way through some of their “irregularities”.... maybe I can point you in the right direction.... Some very basic things I found .... they were very voltage sensitive and did...

Re: C-17 Stitching

The most important thing is that the panels are fair and even and symmetrical. What you don’t want to do is push panels out of shape to get them to fit a mold and the get waves or deformations. Remember it’s almost impossible to predict how every single type of plywood will bend - so it’s only natur...
