Re: C17 open in France
Your boat looks awesome. Love the layout particularly at the bow of the lockers. My only comment would be that you will get lots of wear on your gunwales/ paintwork from the ropes if you leave those front side cleats as they are; perhaps mount them on a sacrificial piece of wood, or a small piece of...

Re: Duet power catamaran launched
Wow Dinas - our build looks incredible. You certainly have modified a lot from the original.
I see both you and Dan have had similar issues that required some serious retrofitting.
If you did it all again would you use a different set of plans/ hull type from the start?

Re: Adding shear to an existing hull
The best way to do this would be to overlap another panel with the existing panel. Drop this panel say 4- 6 inches from the sheer line and then extend however much you want to add upwards whilst following the shape of the bow and transom. Have a look at the C19 or OD 18 or the FS17 extended sheer as...

Re: More V - C-series
Also look at the GS28 - you will be fine with a 150HP on that boat and it will give you a better ride into a head sea than the C series as it’s got a deeper V up front.

Re: Jaques Mertens-Goossens
I have not been on the forum for a while - but am greatly saddened to hear this news. I built my first boat - an OD 18 - when I was 19 years old and still in collage. That was in 2000. I never met Jacques in person; but will forever be eternally grateful to how his boat designs, his patient, and kno...

Re: Best boat for running into chop/ head-sea comfortably?
I know that the OP asked about 20 kts into chop but if we take it to mean “what is the best hull to go the fastest one can into chop in comfort” then here are a few thoughts… The PG25 plans seems to not have much deadrise aft of center - so I am assuming at speed she would pound into chop. One of th...

Re: Panga Glass Schedule Questions?
This is not Panga specific advice - but in general the plans spec the minimum amount of glass needed and anywhere that it is not shown in the lamination schedule/ building notes it is assumed that you can just clear coat with epoxy… But, in most cases it adds very little weight/ cost to add a thin l...

Swift Canoe or other?
I have a 2.5 Hp engine and was wondering whether this would push the swift canoe along - this would be for protected waters and lakes.
Also could one car top the swift canoe or is it too big?

Re: FS18 OFFSHORE
For what it is worth the W19 Yamaha “Panga” used in my part of the world is regularly powered by a 15HP Yamaha and they regularly go 15 miles or so off shore. They move along at a decent clip when they need to - though most don’t because fuel is money. I am not saying it’s the ideal choice, but I th...
