Re: MG20 questions to designer

The Mangusta 20, as designed, does not have reverse chines - the addition of a modest reverse chine to my hull was totally my idea and considered unnecessary by JM, the designer. For what it’s worth, I don’t believe the reverse chines on my hull contribute much to its stability. I think it’s more th...

Re: GT23

A graphite-epoxy bottom will last forever. Mine was 12 years old when i sold it to another member. It was straight graphite over the primer. If you put it on over neat epoxy rough up the epoxy with 80 or 120 grit sandpaper. Tom Not my experience Tom! 8O And yes, I sanded between coats of epoxy!

Re: GT23

I faired the bottom of my boat then: - rolled on 2 or 3 coats of neat epoxy to seal it - followed by 4 x coats of graphite/epoxy made to Cracker Larry's recipe, sanded with medium grade wet-dry paper between coats (I got a very nice smooth finish and will post a couple of pics tomorrow!) - then 4 x ...

Re: 4 stroke info for a 2 stroke guy

My loyalties are flexible!

Back in the day I was a Mercury man, then a Suzuki man (both 2 strokes) now I am a hard core 4 stroke Yamaha man - own two of them (40 and 250 hp). In this part of the world most commercial operators have Yamahas! :D

Re: Looking for boat plans for my next build

Any idea of the gunnel height between the OB 19 vs c19 vs the MG20?
I have no idea about the OB19 or C19 but I can tell you that, built to the plans, the gunnel height of an MG20 hull is about 24"! :D

Re: Looking for boat plans for my next build

Lee ~ do you ever run in 4 degrees Celsius temps? The only place I ever see 4 degrees C is in a refrigerator! On the other hand, add a zero to the 4 and I see it regularly, ie 40 degrees C! 8O Just curious, not trying to indict you, but wondering if the MG can be made with a softtop is all. N...

Re: Looking for boat plans for my next build

Obviously I know nothing about the area you plan to fish, but you mentioned the MG20 - and I do have some experience with that hull! My boat is based on a 10% up-scaled MG20 - taking a 20' boat to a 22' boat. The topside is similar to your examples but I built mine with a side console. It has a 112l...

Re: Anyone Fishing?

I got notification of CapeMan's post above and went in for a look. Interesting fish! Don't know what they are - but thought of piranha! Then I looked at the posts above and wondered why nobody has asked, "What happened? You were on your way for your BIG annual fishing trip - then nothing ...

Re: BASIC electrical system info.

Power demands for a laptop are not high, but way easiest to provide AC using an inverter. Inverter losses are about 15-20%. You only need a generator for refridgeration. What is the engine plan for the boat? I can help, but need the basics.. Is that so? I run a fridge and a separate freezer in my S...
