Re: Jaysen's Helms 24
If you go the serial hybrid electric motor-genset route, will you install the genset in the 'void', or haul it up to the deck or cockpit as required?

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
Thanks cape man, I've been recalling your enjoyment stiffening Hermine up as lightly as possible. I'm experiencing the same buzz. :D I'm building Feather Pram's three thwarts out of okume plywood pieces left over from Skinnydip or from Pram's shell. The top and bottom skins are 5mm okume, the intern...

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
Thanks Jaysen, cape man, and Fuzz. :D What about removable, drop-in seats and deck? Put them in and out like gear you are going to carry, and then their weight doesn't matter. I bet you can then get the hull with skeg, thwart(s), knees, and support for the seats and deck below your 40lb target and m...

Thanks Tom. In the 1970s we lived four years in Toronto and rural Quebec Canada, then three years in New York City and Philadelphia. As Aussies who had never seen serious snow, we loved being snowed on, or even better, being snowed in. Magical. All at once the classic literature and music canons res...

Re: Jaysen's Helms 24
What's currently in the space under the cockpit sole where an inboard would be installed? Has there been one in there at some stage?

Re: Jaysen's Helms 24
This is wonderful news Jaysen! Perfect size to discover what the two of you want on a cruising sailboat, and what you can live without. Enjoy!

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
Thanks cape man, Jeff, Fuzz and Tom. :D How much structure will be needed inside  Internal structure: floors, floor boards; thwarts, cleats, knees; gunwales, stern and bow quarter knees. External structure: keel, skeg, bilge runners, rubbing strakes at sheerline. You taking a sail this year on ...

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
The tops of Feather Pram's stern and bow transoms were left oversized and squared so they could be screwed to the building frame outside the footprint of the finished transoms. I didn't want any holes. This afternoon I planed down the top of the stern transom to close to final shape. The first pic s...
