Re: “Low” energy air conditioning?
A lot of teardrop camper owners use micro-AC units. The video at the link below shows a test of one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rCJXSVauPk That one can operate on 110v AC or 24v DC. It would cost, but the combination of a 24v lithium battery with enough amp hours and a small gas generator to p...

Re: No Excuse
If you wanted a factory gel coat finish, you would have a factory boat -- with a gel coat finish. The time and place to grade that paint job is at the camp site on the second night after a long day of fishing, before scrubbing off the marsh scum, fish slime, and blood, after a very large rum and jui...

Re: No Excuse
Congratulations Cape Man. No Excuse was the boat the drew me in years ago and started my conversation with Larry to build my GF18. There is a great photo of No Excuse taken from the water that focuses on about the same place as the orca / lobster scratch on the side. No Excuse was always ready to go...

Very pretty dinghy!
Have you devised a block and line for the boom or some other way to hoist the dinghy aboard and some davits or other tie down point to secure the dinghy on deck when you are cruising? Also, are you going to add an airbag or foam or some other positive flotation to the dinghy?

Well there you go. Oughtred has been building with plywood for decades, and if he recommends it, it must be a good way to go. I always loved his Grey Seal.
The samples are very pretty.

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
GB: I am a long-time watcher of your travels and progress, and I am impressed. Your latest trip looked fabulous, and the dinghy is a beauty. I do have to wonder if the oil products are really made to keep a plywood boat in good condition -- even with your attention to maintenance and with quarterly ...

Re: ST21 'Skinnydip' build, and boating adventures, Noosa, Australia
That's a beautiful pram. What is the plan for the gunwales? Will you install a flat strip of okoume ply along the outside of the top of the top plank or a squarish strip of mahogany as a gunwale on the outside or give the boat what she deserves and install mahogany gunwales with spacered inwales wit...

It sounds similar to a product called CPES (clear penetrating epoxy sealer) sold by Smith and Company. www.smithandcompany.org

Wes:
I have a version of the ladder you were looking at earlier attached to my boat. It works great -- you are welcome to come by and check it out in person.

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Wes: They will only be too small to hop a three foot transom for a couple of years. You could carry a little step stool on board like the one in the link below, and any time the kids are over the side, you set it on the top of the bracket. Plus, little kids will probably need a step around the boat ...
