FS 14_LS Question
Hello all, I am considering building a FS 14_LS to use fishing on the private lake I live on. The lake is 240 acres in West TN. I am limited to 15hp. I have found myself bass fishing quite a bit and would like something with a deck similar to the bigger bass boats. I currently have a GF 12 that work...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
I like the Adelie but the Scamp is what got me interested in building ply boats in the first place. I built my GF12 as a test run before attempting the Scamp. Last year I went to a meet in Oklahoma and met Welsford, Jim Michalak, Richard Woods, Mick Storer, the guy who designed "Paradox" A...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
Hello all, Just wanted to update my rebuild and say thanks to everyone for their help. It has taken a little while longer to finish the project but sometimes life and the summer heat gets in the way. I have finished the transom/stringer rebuild and rigged the motor this past weekend. I didn't take a...

Boat looks great. Your work is an inspiration to us mere boat-building mortals. I especially liked your "eating the elephant one bite at a time" motto. I find my self saying that a lot now.

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
I got the new transom epoxied in and I am very happy with the result. Below are some pictures. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag21/scottr4/Transomepoxy1_zps34f04c69.jpg?t=1423681445 http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag21/scottr4/Transomepoxy2_zps9dcf458f.jpg?t=1423681445 http://i1297.photobuc...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
Thanks for the education! By the way I was able to insert the transom by cutting the ends level with the middle. Accordingly, the transom where the engine will be mounted is one piece from side to side. I will have to add pieces to fill in the upper corners but not a big deal. My wife thanks you for...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
Thanks for the quick reply! I see what you mean about keeping it level and I will see what works tonight. Just for my own education, when you are replacing transoms like I am it seems that the ideal situation would be to have a single laminated piece of wood that covers the entire transom. If you de...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
So I have pretty much sanded and ground everything until a have a relatively smooth and clean transom area to rebuild. I was mocking up a template for the plywood when I realized I had forgotten something. http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag21/scottr4/Transombare1_zps82598d94.jpg?t=1422217596 The...

Re: 1971 14 ft Fabuglass Fury Transom rebuild
Thanks Joel. I think I will rebuild it as it was but put in more hatches. The boat is rated for up to a 50 hp but I was surprised that the fiberglass looked to be only a layer think from the bottom of the transom to about the 6 inches short of the top. The top 6 inches looked like it had several lay...
