Re: Rb12 motor question
Thanks, all of you! I think it's going to be hard to save any weight. Now I remember why I went with what I did... Even 20lbs more that far back is probably enough to negate the loss of the battery weight. Not worth the trouble of switching. What's the consensus of putting the battery next to the fu...

Re: Rb12 motor question
I'm assuming you are referring to a newer motor? I'll take a look, thanks!

Re: Rb12 motor question
Thank you for the responses. The steering is no problem, I can rig any motor for steering, I think. It's the throttle and gears. If the motor is pull start then I can ditch the battery which I think is what the plans intended. I just don't understand how that could have been the intended configurati...

Rb12 motor question
Jacques, I built an RB12 a few years ago. It's time to renew and refresh the boat. It's set up with an old Johnson 30 which was fairly light weight but had electric start and remote controls. I know I was over the recommended weight, but I really wanted electric start. Well, of course I've seen the ...

Re: MF14 - Minnesota
You must have great restraint at not using too much epoxy. That board must be light weight for you to get it overhead like that! Clever storage solution!

Re: MF14 - Minnesota
This guy makes custom covers that are out of this world. He's local for me which is a big advantage but if you stayed with the plans, you can probably send him the plans and he can do something for you. I brought him my rb12 in person and he created a work of art but you may want to call him and see...

I bought a motor from this guy. He's in the Tampa/St. Pete area. I had a good experience.

Re: sailboat under bridges?
If you have pictures of that process I would be most appreciative. I may take you up on that demonstration offer sometime (thanks!) But for now it helps me to know that process is feasible on that boat. I like the looks of the otter the best, then the c13, then the cat ketch. But terms of versatilit...

Re: sailboat under bridges?
I love the CR13, but it has a stayed rig. I'm worried it might be harder to adapt a tabernacle to it. BTW I currently winch up an aluminum jonboat onto the creek bank. It weighs over 350 with the motor. It's a real handful, but at least I know I can handle a bit more weight. But I struggle with it o...

I don't plan on camping in it.
