Re: HMD 19 - Yoda's legacy continues

Great start!! I’m really excited to see your design choices and steal some ideas for my P19! I would truly suggest cutting the center aisle of the cabin down to give some headroom, I’m 6’ 4” and can almost fully stand up in the cabin which is so much nicer than having to stoop.

Re: Paint Removal

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! It sounds like I'll have a lot of sanding in my future, makes me wish we hadn't rushed the fairing  Since we didn't use an epoxy paint I might do a couple of sample pieces with a gentle paint stripper, if that even exists haha. I'll post photos of the boat's...

Paint Removal

Hey Everyone, I've been pondering going over and re-fairing the P19. It was painted with a single part poly paint from interlux, and I was wondering if there are any ways to remove the paint without having to sand it all off. Can you use paint stripper on fibreglass boats? Soda blasting also seems t...

Diablo build and P19 update

Hey all, we've been very busy throughout quarantine building a Bolger Diablo from plans found in a book. Start to finish the build was 3.5 months which was by far the fastest boat we've built. We ended up putting a 60 horse Johnson on it and beefed up the structure considerably. We moved the central...

Re: Outboard sizing

We built a P19 with a yamaha 115 four stroke, our boat is significantly heavier than plans, but it feels perfect with the 115, cruise at 30mph at about 4200rpm with a flat out speed of around 37/38 or so. The 115 weighs almost the same as the 90 so if you can find one in your budget I wouldn't hesit...

Re: Outboard Questions

Here are some photos showing what we've done so far, the front two frames were moved forward to create a large casting deck, and the rear frame was moved backwards to create the motorwell. This obviously leaves a large unsupported space in the middle. I plan to create two more frames that will be cu...

Outboard Questions

Hello all, We've gotten bored in quarantine and have been building a bolger diablo (with materials from boatbuildercentral), and we're trying to figure out what our options are for power. We've redesigned the structure significantly and have built a full motorwell for added strength. We've also been...

Re: P19 build in Alberta

Hey all, I have tons of photos from the build that I'll post in due course. Life has been pretty busy these last couple years and the forum updates slipped through the cracks. We were looking at going with a bracket, but decided that since the boat is relatively short that it might throw off the bal...

Re: P19 build in Alberta

Hey all, so we finally launched our build, sorry for the lack of photos lately, but I'll be posting lots in the next coming while. Performance is very good with the 115, it'll get to 38/39 mph at full blast. I am really happy with the extended pilothouse, the interior is very roomy. Next summer we'l...

P19 Scupper Location

Hey all, We're making some serious progress on the boat now, and we're starting to think about scupper placement. Anyone know approximately where the waterline will end up on one of these, and where is the best place to position the scuppers? thought the stern or out the sides? The plan is to go for...
