Re: C17 instructions
The plans are not a 'how to build a boat manual.' There's some tutorials on here, plenty of posts from people that have built their own C17s and videos on youtube etc for proceedures. You can also start a thread and keep a journal. People will join in and help you. Your plans will have a LS part (ei...

Re: How much glue per sq/ft of transom?
It's certainly easier in metric, but I teach maths as a day job. Trust me, a lot of kids hardly know place value, let alone how much glue in a bondline. It's a serious issue, the general fall in maths knowledge in kids over the last 30 years in general, but since Smartphones in particular. We've ban...

Re: How much glue per sq/ft of transom?
I built mine twice because I was unhappy with the glue up. I'd suggest that you go overboard with it. 1 litre of mixed glue (including fillers) per sq metre would give 1mm thick bond line. So that's about 3 fluid ounces per foot. I'd put in about 50% more to be safe and add extra epoxy to saturate t...

Re: Weight of CS25 v full fiberglass factory boat
It's not that hard to estimate the weight difference between the two materials. Polyester glass has a relative density of about 1.5 though it varies on the quality of build. The typical materials used for these boats are about a relative density of 3/4- 1, depending on the amount of glass and type a...

Re: OD16 Two stringer option
Bit of advice now that the designer is no longer with us. Find a post from Jacquesmm on the forum, any post. He's in red. https://community.boatbuildercentral.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4 Then click on his name and it brings up an info page. Click on 'search users posts.' You ca...

Re: OD16 Two stringer option
Hi Pudgey1922
There's not a lot of OD16 builders currently active. I would be cautious removing stringers in general though. Possibly the notes refer to stringers of two layers rather than two stringers. In any case seek out Capeman or Fuzz. They both have built the OD18, the bigger version.

Re: Polyester fabric
No you can't do this. Resin doesn't stick to polyester fabric. It's also very flexible compared to fiberglass. It has no structural properties. Xynole is polyester I thought? Do they treat it for resin to bond. I've never used the stuff, though apparently it's good for its purpose, which is not hol...

Re: Polyester fabric
Essentially no you can not use a different fabric. Some people use xynole for sheathing and abrasion resistance in a wood boat but it can in no way replace glass for structural integrity. It has superior performance against abrasion but almost no performance in holding your boat together. If you wer...
