Update! I have most of the repairs completed. It doesn't look that bad, it is mostly cosmetic. I can't see how deep it goes in the glass but I wonder if it is necessary to use any glass. If you do, use the lightest you have left from your previous project, grind to a taper all around and finish with QuickFair. From memory, the glass is ground ...

Update from the weekend. Ok, I will spend some extra time ensuring everything is completely clean. I will also pull the old hoses and cables (They are all cut and being replaced anyhow.

I dug more into the process and have some updated pictures.
