Re: OB15 in NC - Flounder Drum Trout
Buz sorry for the delay I have been having some pain from my back surgery, I will definitely get you some numbers tomorrow. What is the weight of the 9HP motor you will convert to 20HP. I looked up several and they were in the 90-100lb range, so will use 95lbs for motor weight, unless you have a bet...

Re: GT23
Adding to what fallguy posted, use a can of Krylon fast drying spray paint and shake it over the bottom or sides as you spray it to get dots. It will dry quickly and then take as long as torture board as you can handle 3-4' and sand the bottom this will show you the lows that are left to fill on the...

Re: New member - Which boat to build?
Welcome Sean if I were you, I would choose the OB17 or C17. Both are about the same size and have the same capabilities offshore. Having lived on the North Shore of Boston I understand the conditions you will be encountering. Thus, my recommendation. In fact, I would buy both set of plans and decide...

Re: OB-19 in PA/DE
You need at least 4-5 tubes going the stern. This was determined by CL many years ago. 1 2-3" for the mechanicals, 1 1 1/2" for the fuel line, 1 2" for the electricals and 1 1 The1/2" for the depth/fish finder. The extra tube for the fish finder prevents interference from electri...

Re: OB15 in NC - Flounder Drum Trout
Time to plan power for this 17'6", extended sheer, OB15. I'm trying to decide between a remote steer 125lb 20hp (2cyl) Suzuki and their 158lb (3cyl) 25hp. I'd really prefer to use the smaller of the two because I can buy a 9.9hp with a 25" shaft and convert it fairly easily to a 20, allow...

Re: Cape Man's Dory
There is only one varnish I use in outdoor applications and that is Interlux Perfection Plus a two-part varnish that lasts 4 times longer than the standard varnish. Just something to think about Craig.

You are correct cape man. Don't know where I got caught up in the scaling.

Re: Bass boat
Again, Jacques allowed scaling of up to 10% without increasing the scantlings. Anything over 10% requires a redesign of the boat. Thicker hull bottom, stringers and frames. While he allowed scaling in length, he preferred scaling in all dimensions.
