Re: GV11 - April 2021 - JNB’s build
That is a manual Scotty and it is okay, but I recommend keeping a wire cutters and piece of leather close. That or any rigger is a liability in a small boat and always be ready to snip it off. I have the same one. Is that a king? Nice fish. I am jealous. I run braid on it and keep a sharp knife in ...

Re: GV11 - April 2021 - JNB’s build
Thanks guys, the downrigger is definitely only a fair weather item at the moment because reaching out over the side is a little sketchy. I'll probably move it forward a bit. I've got a lighter ball and relatively light braided line on it, so if I make a really big mistake and it gets hung up it shou...

GV11 - April 2021 - JNB’s build
Well I sort of finished this GV11 build last fall but intended on doing a lot more fairing once the weather warmed up. Then the weather warmed up and I decided to say screw it and just call it complete so I could start fishing. Haven’t measured the speed but it feels like a jet ski with a Tohatsu 9....

Re: GV 11 drain plug
I like that logic. History has proven I'm capable of forgetting plugs mounted on the outside, so I may as well have it accessible on the inside.

Re: GV 11 drain plug
Here's the dumb question of the day: should this be installed so it is accessible from the inside or outside? I'm thinking inside to if it pops out I'll be able to stick it back in, but maybe I'm overlooking something.

GV 11 drain plug
I need to install a drain plug in the transom of my (almost complete) GV 11. The only type of plug I have any familiarity with a brass tube that you cut and then flare out to tighten. However, since the transom is only a single sheet of ply where it needs to be installed I think it would be difficul...

Re: FS14 from Seattle
Craig, I’m a personal injury lawyer in Seattle so I deal with stuff a lot. There’s a good chance I’ve met whatever insurance adjuster you’re dealing with. Usually property damage claims are pretty easy to sort out. If you have any questions about whatever the insurance company offers you, I’d be hap...

Re: GV11 build Seattle
Also, a couple questions regarding foam: I'm putting two sheets of 2 inch XPS on each side of each bench, per the specs. I ended up with some gaps, which I filled with an XPS safe adhesive. The hardware store ran out of loctite foamboard adhesive, so I used liquid nails extreme heavy duty, which the...

Re: GV11 build Seattle
I have not been good about updating my progress. I thought I'd be posting more questions as I went along, but have been able to find a ton of info in the archives on here. Getting pretty close to launching. Working on installing the foam right now, then a little more fairing and installing the hardw...
