Well the Conch Fritter was finally splashed this September after numerous delays. Namely, a wife, a baby, house renovations, a new job promotion, another baby, quitting said job, selling a house, moving across the country, buying a new house, more house renovations, starting a new business, weather ...

Fairing and sandpaper grit?
I’m at the point where I’m spreading the mixed blended filler/epoxy over the fiberglass weave on my build. My plan is to do a couple coats with my home mixed stuff, then the final fairing coats with quick fair. What is the recommended sandpaper grit to use when sanding during this process? I’m...

Re: GF14 - Charleston, SC
Sounds good thanks Piperdown and topwater. I sanded a bit too deep the other day next to the runners in an effort to create tooth for the tape layer. Hoping it's not too much of a problem since I'll be laying a piece of biax tape over it anyways. It was also the top layer of the overlap so I think i...

Re: Fixing Fiberglass Air pockets
Okay thanks for confirming the injection method. I have some of those epoxy syringes so I will probably go that route.

Fixing Fiberglass Air pockets
Hi all, Finally making some progress on my GF 14 build but ran into a snag today. I glassed the hull last night and was pretty happy with how I did. However, I checked it this morning and I have maybe 3 or 4 small "soft" spots with air behind them along the chine. They're all less than an ...

Drill and Fill Questions
Is there a rule of thumb or recommended amount to overdrill? I.e. if there is a 1” diameter fitting, what diameter should you overdrill.
When filling the over drill with the epoxy, do you thicken it with wood flour? Thicken with something else?

Re: GF14 glassing and sanding questions
Ok thanks Reid. So leave the texture there and just apply fairing compound over all the glass first before any sanding. What's the advantage of using the plastic sheeting method I read about then? It just results in using less fairing compound? Curious as this is my first go, so trying to learn the ...
