Re: Notching and cutting the frames? -fs18

I think between these posts and peewee’s on the duplicate thread I can figure it out. Templates will be king when I start I think. Side note: was considering plans from tolman spira and glen l. Support offered by JM and bbc forums hands down has them all beat so glad I made decision to use plans fro...

Notching and cutting the frames? -fs18

So I’m wondering if I need to wait for hard copies of the plans. I went through the Digital copies and the minimalist fs18 thread which was incredibly detailed and read through the notching part of the tutorial. I did not see measurements for notching unless I missed it and only one of the frames ar...

Re: Fs18 question

Thank you. I was pricing some and comparing more today and found great deals on previous years 15hp. I was interested in 9.8 as it seems to be lightest in its class. Seems like Tohatsu tunes the 8hp to 9.8 and then 9.9 is the twin to the 15, so the 9.8 is same weight as 8 and 9.9 is same as 15. Seem...

Re: FS18 Minimalistic

I like the guide box + bench layout and probably how I will do mine. Have you used oars yet or did you end up removing the oarlock sockets? I have thought of doing something similar for approaching some game trails I found on public land on the river that have hog and deer sign without noise from th...

Fs18 question

Hey all, the gf18 I got several years ago has not started yet and will probably be years away. I wanted a boat more economical that could easily fit in the garage next to van and with my squat rack. I figured the fs18 with narrower beam I can put with a swing tongue and angle it to put in garage . W...

Lightweight GF18 vs normal GF16

Evening! Life keeps getting in the way and I keep having to postpone the build so every time I do, I go back to the drawing board. I have GF18 plans and believe that is probably better suited for my current needs, though a bit more expensive. I'd like to have a wider boat with more stability than th...

Re: Found my GF18 plans!

Thanks Tom. I read through a few threads with children assisting and I’m thinking about doing the fl14 for the first build and then gf18 a few years from now. One poster made a great point about keeping it moving quickly instead of letting it sit around to keep their interest so the fl14 will allow...
