Re: RB16 New build 1st time Kentucky

TommyD, Sorry for not responding earlier, I have been out of town and then catching up. Your cockpit layout looks good. Make sure to keep the sides of the frames in place and the gunwale caps. Those few inches of the gunwale caps will help tremendously to stiffen the hull. You should not need to sha...

Re: RB16 New build 1st time Kentucky

Tommy, I would definitely sand those areas smooth. This will be easier when the panel is lying flat on the ground. In the future, only need to coat a few inches on either side of the puzzle joint and then lay plastic down. The rest of the plywood can be coated by rolling out a thin coat with a 1/8&q...

Re: Building a Corsair CR13

Hello everyone, I have started building a CR13. The panels are cut out and glued together, frames are cut out, and all the edges have been sealed with a couple of coats of epoxy, and best of all I've made only a couple of mistakes. While I've been waiting for glue to set, I've been following all th...

2024 Stuart Boat Show

Hey Everyone, Wanted to share a quick picture of the Boat Builder Central booth at the 2024 Stuart Boat Show. This was our first time attending this show. We had great crowds and really lucked out on the weather! It was a long three days but I always enjoy opening people's eyes to the possibility of...

Re: OD16 Two stringer option

With the two plywood stringer option in the building notes, would the two remaining stringers stay in the same location and the middle stringer is simply eliminated? Pudgey1922, Page 6 of the build notes are pretty clear about the plywood stringer option. You simply omit the middle stringer and onl...

Re: XF20 build questions.

Captrichc,

I have sent you an email with the updated XF20 plans. The plans show the missing transom knee dimension. Please check your email, everything should make sense now.

Thank you,
Reid

Re: XF20 build questions.

I don't see an issue with running a tiller on the full version. I think the sole would be more comfortable anyway. Better than tripping over the stringers. I think shortening the aft deck would be an issue. The frames are positioned according to the designer's calculations and moving them could have...

Re: XF20 build questions.

Captrichc, 1. The notch starts 1-7/8" from the BL. 2. The XF20 has two stringers. The stringers are made from two layers of 9mm (3/8") with the seams offset. Page B233/9 shows this. 3. The light version does not have a sole or side decks. These parts are crucial to the hull integrity/stiff...

Re: printed plans- templates

Rstitson, I saw you already purchased the plans. They where sent out today. To answer your question, most of our plans do not have full size templates. Paper can shrink up to 2%, leaving the builder with inaccurate hull parts. If a set of plans do happen to come with some templates our designers rec...
