I assume you meant FS19. It's a vee hull and drafts 8". I need the shallower draft. The shoals that are run between pools in the river can be 5-6" deep.topwater wrote:What about the SF 19

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
I really want a 20 foot boat. Browndog is talking about where I would be fishing and he is right, the boats are unique to the area. We will often fish with 3 people. An 18' boat is just a little too short. I looked hard at the PH18 and FS18 and almost went with the FS18 until I saw this photo. http:...

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
Now that I was satisfied that it would work out and be proportional I went about building a third model with the changes that I wanted. First the prow became pointed. All changes here took place ahead of Frame A. Some mild trimming on the sides and bottom brought it together. Second I removed the mi...

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
Well, I had back surgery last Thursday and just started to feel OK. I've gone around and around viewing all of the plans out there for what I wanted. None covered it. My home river is the White RIver in Arkansas. Blue ribbon trout fishing. Everyone down there uses 20 foot fiberglass jon boats. Narro...

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
Yes, I will be building with the gunwale and sole options. My main concern was removing the seat area between B and C. The other requirements that you indicated are understood.

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
I purchased plans for the XF20 the other day. Structurally can Frame C be used for construction purposes as a jig only and then removed from the finished boat? I am planning on decking from Frame B forward.

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
I was looking at the Flats Stalker 18 last night. Built with the low shear option it is a good looking boat and works well with a small motor. Might see about stretching it 2 feet.

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
Looking at both again it might be easier to just add one frame for additional length on the GF18. I think I have read some threads here where the designer sometimes will throw in the tunnel diagrams on the GF18. I haven't written of the Sabine but it's a heavy boat when it doesn't need to be.

Re: Narrowing Beam on XF20
I looked at the GF18 but I really want the extra two feet in length and the jet outboard tunnel.

Narrowing Beam on XF20
I've been researching a lot of options for a boat for my lake house in Arkansas. I'm near the White River which is an excellent trout river. It is very shallow when generation is low so I'm looking for a shallow draft boat to build. Pretty much everyone down there has a Shawnee or Supreme river boat...
