Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
The exterior is basically done, but the interior has a long way to go. Much more insulating to do, then building some bench seats that fold into beds, etc., plus a steering station, rigging, plumbing, sink, motor, etc. Haven't been able to work on it since we arrived to WI in June, as it's still in ...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Hey guys, sorry it took me forever to get to it, but I finally had time to assemble, edit, and narrate the last of my GT27 build footage. Part 9 is now viewable here: https://youtu.be/pd7s4Hrsaos

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Yes, we're loving it here in River Falls. Very welcoming community in a great, active little town that also offers easy access to good restaurants in nearby Hudson, all the cultural opportunities of the Twin Cities, and easy access to an international airport with many direct-flight destinations in ...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Sorry for not realizing you all had posed a few questions. No, we haven't launched and are still a long way from that. The GT27 is all sealed up and mostly finished on the exterior, as I had to ready it for a 1700 mile journey across the country. We moved from Georgia to Wisconsin so I could take a ...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Hey, sorry for the delayed reply. I wish the boat were ready to splash, but it seems the work is multiplying and the weather continues to challenge us. We left off work last June when it got too hot in Georgia to do much outside, then resumed in November. Then I had to take December off for hernia r...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Oh, I think I just found it in the ABYC S-12 Transom and Engine Well specifications: 22" on center is listed as the MAX spacing for twin outboards up to 75hp. transom specs spacing.JPG transom specs spacing 2.JPG And the overall width of the transom/engine well needs to be 55" for twin mot...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Tom, are you talking about the minimum transom width perhaps with those 30" and 60" ABYC figures? I can't find minimum separation specs for 25hp outboards, but for the 150-200hp outboards, I found several resources suggesting the standard separation is around 29" on center. I'm assumi...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Yes, we've given some thought to a generator and/or solar panels for charging. We're going to try to keep the power consumption down by striving for minimalism and efficiency, but there will likely be a small fridge and also some kids' laptops that occasionally need power. Still weighing the pros/co...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
My neighbor has me thinking about another possibility: twin 15 - 25 hp outboards. I would love the redundancy in case one motor ever went out. Twin Suzuki 20 hp motors would come in at about 240 lbs. and even though they are not high thrust models, two 10-3/4" props would surely generate a lot ...

Re: GT27 Build (Wes K)
Well, I would feel better knowing the current weight nonetheless. My spreadsheet is too unreliable because at this point it's nearly impossible to quantify how much of that weight made it onto the boat and how much was left to scraps, debris, and waste. In people weight, I'm thinking worst case up t...
