Re: Battery

I agree, don't tickle charge. I also pull my batteries to store in the garage (45 degrees) and the ones I can't I disconnect and let freeze (AGM ones). then once through the winter I will charge. Then right before I put them back in, I charge them again. I generally get about 4 years out of trolling...

Re: AB 23

You have to check with tohastsu if they recommend lithium. Mercury put out bulletins of which of their older motors can run on lithium and same with Yamaha. I think all new merc can run lithium and some older models. Unfortunately, none of my current motors can use lithium. Here is a motor I have th...

Re: AB 23

I have been thinking about this topic. If I decide to hang twins my thought is to hang the engines directly to the transom with a motor well. With a single I plan to use a bracket or hydraulic lift such as a porta bracket. My concern is the weight hanging off the back of a small boat. I would move ...

Re: AB 23

I am considering going with a Tohatsu 250. There are several dealers near my house and they have the best prices for any motor in the 250hp range. I have plenty of time before I have to make a final decision. From everything I have read they are solid motors. When I was looking for a tohastsu, the ...

Re: AB 23

I would add them. This boat has a long running surface which makes it a more stable boat. Strakes will help get the hull out of the water and increase the stability of the boat.

Re: AB 23

I saw this video and figured I would post it. It shows the same style hull is rough water. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqoEHCA5HPg He has a couple other videos with different interior layouts. Additionally, here is a video of why the hull handles chop so well and explains the concepts around the...

Re: AB 23

I once fished out of a custom flats boat in the keys. The guy had extended the stringers to create the rear transom bracket, but then he plumbed the compartments back there to keep shrimp. Each compartment had 3/8 holes drilled into it to get water flow in and out to keep shrimp alive while at the d...

Re: AB 23

When I designed mine to build, I had planned to go transom bracket that provided floatation. Then you could hang a bunch of rod holders on the back of the boat and still trim the motor. They sell 5+ rod holders that mount flat to the transom for under $200 out of stainless. That keeps gunnels clear ...

Re: AB 23

Probably a 250 or 300hp depending on the best deal I can find. When your ready for that look at facebook marketplace in Wisconsin Dells area. There are 3 ski teams that get new motors every other year, and they sell the old ones. Great deals and comes with warranty and 200 hours ish. Well maintaine...
