GV10 with console
I have the plans for a GV10, which I would like to build and use as a tender. I would like to add a small console and backrest and primarily use with two persons on the rear seat. Is the GV10 stable enough for an offset console? Should the seats be moved forward to account for two persons occupying ...

Re: TW28 stretched 10%
Trevor, As I'm sure you are aware, we do not Jacques anymore to answer this question. I can say, however, that Jacques (in 99% of cases) would stress that a hull must be scaled in all directions (no more than 10%). A hull should not be scaled in length alone. -Reid I was not aware, but some searchi...

TW28 stretched 10%
A couple of years ago we were considering building a tw28 and purchased the plans. Now that our house is completed, and shop is setup for a build we want to move ahead with the project. I created a thread about increasing the size by 10% but am I am not confident as to whether I should go ahead with...

Re: TW28 Scantlings
Yes, makes sense. That would be an unnecessarily high pilothouse roof. That is why I was trying to verify the statement in the study plan that recommends 10% increase in length only. I have the plans and have been working through them to understand all that would be involved. If it is just a matter ...

Re: TW28 Scantlings
Boats are scaled in length and beam; not height. In order to change the height of a boat; you must make accomodations for the increases by reducing weights up higher. Otherwise, the boat gets heavier on top which can result in many issues..instability, rolling in a seaway, pitching, etc scale compa...

Re: TW28 Scantlings
The answer by Fallguy was correct: no need to change the plywood thickness or fiberglass layers. The deck panel panel span will be fine, no changes there either. I am still surprised by all the features you put in just a small 10% increase. Years ago, I sketched a 34' version of the TW28 and was no...

Re: TW28 Scantlings
It looks very good, I am surprised how muhc room you created and used. I have to check if al that will fit in 3D. I can't do that know: I am on the road (camping) and will be back begin November. Thanks for responding Jacques. Can you please look at my original post. I am trying to assess what all ...

Re: TW28 Scantlings
Thanks for the feedback. One of the reasons I am very interested in the TW28 is the wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum. Stretching 10% would provide just the right amount of accommodation and storage for long term cruising. Within our needs and resources. Hoping Jacques will comment wh...
