Re: Applying graphite
It depends on how much graphite you add to each load of epoxy as the graphite is the scratch preventer. If only adding 20% then I would do 3 coats if 25-30% then you might get by with 2 coats. Tom This right here, you want enough to prevent most scratches. I did 4 but my boat is only 15' by 4' and ...

Re: Taping for graphite
so i just used a single layer of blue painters tape and did all my layers (4 in total) and then removed the tape with no issues whatsoever. I would do 1 coat of graphite, wait about 30-45 minutes (depending on temperature) and then do the next layer of graphite. I have a nice crisp line. When I did ...

Re: TX 18 project for sale
Hey all, while I don't have to sell the boat, circumstances have changed and it would be best to let it go to someone who will be able to do something with her. She's ready to get some work done. The hull is ready inside and out and the stringers are glued in but need the filets finished and then gl...

Re: LM18 South Alabama
I've got a TX18 in a 20x22 that also has 2 workbenches, 2 sets of shelving, a dirt bike and 2 four-wheelers in it. If I can do it with a TX18 you'll be fine. It WILL be tight and I 2nd and 3rd the extra clothes thing. I would go buy a bunch of long sleeve shirts, protection is a must, if you're skin...

Re: How’s your graphite bottom?
mine is fine with sand, smooth rocks, grass, crab traps, old dock posts, and things like that but don't expect it to be fine hitting a good oyster bar. i've pulled up on some and just slowly coming onto the oyster bar puts some scratches/small gouges in it. The good thing is it's super easy to touch...

Re: Builders meet 2022
2004 Hurricane Jeanne comes to mind. Thought we were safe and then it circles back and comes right near Fort Pierce (where I grew up). Punches just kept coming that year so you can never not pay attention

Re: FS14 new build - South Shore MA
Looking good, how do you open your hatches? I don't see any holes or hinges/latches on them Haha - great observation. Pull latches and hinges are still on the to-do list. Figured I’d wait until painting was complete. Ah nice. I waited until after paint as well but wish I hadn't. Made it more diffic...
