Depending on the run from your launch point will depend on your motor HP. If you only have short runs the 20 will do you fine. I fish Fontana and need more to ...

5. Most commercial skiffs have a deck that overhangs the side panels by a fair amount. Often with a spray rail attached underneath the forward deck. Would moving the poling platform support posts outboard of the stringers give you more tiller clearance?

Just wanted to add my name to the list of those following this thread VERY closely. I plan on building the same boat with much the same mods. You're just more organized and beat me to it. I anxiously await your progress posts and hope to learn from your experience. Looks fantastic so far.
