Re: PH16/PH18 - minimizing weight, static/dynamic draft
Yamaha has a nice smartphone app that allows you to record and download (?) datasets. It may be Android only but that makes no sense. I just own Android. We used it at the marina and it does work well. You have to purchase the dongle to connect to the harness. This may be a 'Service Tool' exclusivel...

Re: PH16/PH18 - minimizing weight, static/dynamic draft
Tom, Your response answers two questions! No doubt the LM18 is a great boat. Also, I did not suspect the PH18 was only for calm days on the ocean side of the Keys so I need to cement this fact in my mind. I am not looking for something like the Panga. The news on the Yamaha outboards is new. I worke...

Re: PH16/PH18 - minimizing weight, static/dynamic draft
Thanks Tom - I just reviewed this thread again https://www.community.boatbuildercentral.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=64790&p=464385&hilit=PH16#p464385 and it is not clear to me that Jacques is referring to an empty hull but this is fine. The primary reason I cited this thread was to det...

Re: PH16/PH18 - minimizing weight, static/dynamic draft
Thanks for your responses. I also have to be honest; primarily with myself. If these boats cannot do what I hope they can do I have to find a different way to accomplish what I need to do. The difficulty is I see no way to get around two boats and the likelihood that I can afford that is zero. I wou...

PH16/PH18 - minimizing weight, static/dynamic draft
My needs/interest is for a simple, lightweight fly fishing boat with ample casting surface area. My application will be freshwater rivers and saltwater flats yet I want the boat to be capable of handling the ocean side of the Keys where feasible. I prefer to build a boat that can handle chop rather ...

Re: Interest in PH18
I let the drawing in the study plan of the LM18 influence me inappropriately. When I read the plan more carefully this morning I realized the significant difference in the max. beam as compared to the FS18. Based on Reid's initial post this will handle all 3 family members - I would now add this nee...

Re: Interest in PH18
Reid, Jacques, and Dustinwg - Thanks for your responses. Most of what has been said seems fine. I understand compromises must be heeded. I just need to know where they occur. Your responses have helped me to accomplish this. The 6" static draft spec of the Phantom when loaded as described seems...

Interest in PH18
I have been looking into a 'microskiff' that will allow me to pursue Bonefish. The primary location will be around Florida because my wife has family that live on south Florida. I am been told Jacques designs are sound but I need to be certain this boat will meet the need. Note I have downloaded the...
