Re: C17 as tiller?

It was just an idea. Don't see how these aluminum boats get away with it? I saw this walk through https://www.wired2fish.com/fishing-videos/video-lund-alaskan-walk-through-1675-tiller-full-setup And I've looked at them in the past prior to signing up on here. I mostly fish the sod marshes and bays f...

Re: C17 as tiller?

My C17 has twin consoles designed for good standing height, about 3.5' above the sole. They are about 6' from the ground on the trailer. The foredeck is a little less than 5' 9" from the ground. If I was building it as a tiller, I'd be concerned about visibility forwards. The foredeck is 3' ab...

Re: C17 as tiller?

I'm pretty sure that BBC's "standard console", which is under 3' high without windscreen, will fit any garage door on a C17. It is barely higher than the C17 front deck. Then if you want a windscreen, depending on the space left, you may need to install a removable or hinged support, whic...

C17 as tiller?

Due to height restrictions for my garage, I may not be able to have a center console tall enough for me to stand at the helm and fit the boat easily inside. With that in mind, I've always found the Lund Alaska tiller and similar interesting. What modifications to the standard "c17 center consol...

Re: GF14 in France

Nice catch. I really like both of your builds. I enjoy the action and use photos just as much as the build ones.

Re: C17 single side panel possible?

The P/OP21 is very similar to the C17/19/21 hull shape aside from the single hull side panel. To account for the strength lost there the P/OP21 adds a half round stiffener glassed to the inside of the hull panel. It would not be impossible to use the same detail on the C17. Obviously this would be ...

Re: C17 single side panel possible?

It's hard to gauge if the double side panel is 1) there for mainly stiffness added at the overlap 2) there because it's mainly a plywood nesting efficiency 3) the two smaller side panels are easier to bend to develop the curve at the bow. I'm only curious since it was mentioned it can and is done on...

Re: C17 single side panel possible?

I meant the same finished height side panel but in one piece of ply instead of the overlap. I'm going to assume the answer is no mainly for the stiffness it adds.
