Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
Paint was toplac plus from interlux. Read through all the info they supply and it doesn’t say anything about fully cured at all. Too touch is 2hrs and recoat is 8hrs. My plan was to let it sit for a week. Thanks for the input.

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
Topac plus paint. Slow Foam roller and no tipping
Not perfect but that’s my fault, looks good to me!
Fins and rub rail will be bright finished.
How long should I let it cure before I flip it??

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
I did better fairing than I expected. Doesn’t look too bad after the 1st primer coat. Nothing major but just fixing a few places I was mostly already aware of!

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
I did not adjust the rub rail for the tumblehome. (Actually not sure what I would have done differently). What do you suggest? Fill with epoxy glue or quick fair? Or fair it out flush before applying plywood to the deck? Going to follow the lead of Kyla’s RB14 and go with okoume and routered joints ...

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
Fins to the left, fins to the right! Peewee and Reid So I think I’m confused because maybe I’m using the wrong terminology. I have read some post on this forum about sharpening the transom and have started this process. Are you guys saying I need to sharpen the edge of the chine and the chine fender...

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
Reid, would you post a picture of your sharpened chine. I think I know what to do on the transom. Thanks

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
Reid where exactly do I need to create a sharp edge with putty? All the outside edges of the chine fender?
Strakes, chine steps and other skegs.

If you build one of my designs with a built-in step chine, I recommend to add some putty to that corner and build a sharp edge.

Re: RB16 new build KY 1st timer
found it The chine fender will protect the hull sides when coming alongside a dock and also provide lift and dynamic lateral stability at high speed. If you plan to go fast, add the chine fender. You can make it wider. The lower face of the fender is located 2” (5 cm) above the DWL or 7” (175 mm) ab...
