Hey Lefty801, I took some measurements and you sure can build your V12 in your basement. It will easily go through a doorway. I guess it looks a whole lot deeper on the sawhorses. You'll still have to deal with the mess. I suggest a shopvac with the 1 1/4" hose. Then buy a Black and Decker 1/4 ...

You should consider building it in the garage. Buy a torpedo heater and it will be just fine. The drawback is when it gets cold in the garage it takes longer for the epoxy to cure but, that's okay. Once you see mine, you'll realize that it's not going to fit through the door without a Sawzall. I'd h...

I think that would be a bad idea. It would take a sizeable trunk for a swing up centerboard and the centerboard would have to be weighted. You'll find that a 12 foot boat is still a 12 foot boat. Actually you are sitting realtively close to the daggerboard. It's light weight and held down with a bun...

Hey, I'm still around. My V12 is still in the garage awaiting a paint job. I thought I had the planets aligned to splash it last year but a couple of larger sailboats got in the way. Now the V12 is waiting for the other boats to make it to the hard and then she'll get finished. Anyway, we should tal...

Buy one of those plastic cutting boards. They cost about $5 to $10. Lay it up against the transom and trace the transom curve on to it. Trace the shape you want for the bottom edge. Cut it with whatever you have as it cuts very easy. Sand the edges. Drill mounting holes and counter sink them. Screw ...

Hey ho, I'm Back. Thanks for asking. Winter cold and my job forced me out of the garage. The boat is upside down getting it's final fairing before paint. It also gives me a chance to touch up some fillets under the seats while gravity is on my side. I've been pricing hardware and think bronze will l...

I went with the laminated method. My rubrail is made of three strips of 1/4" okoume. During the dry fit I found difficulty trying to get the plywood strip to follow the up-sweeping sheer near the bow without having it bow away from the hull. My answer to this was in the way I clamped it up. I u...

I used some of the AOL cd's that I get in the mail for forming my fillets. I cut them into 1" strips then use a compass set to a 1/2" radius to round the ends. A pair of scissors cuts the cd very well. I mix my putty with a tongue depresser and glop it on. The cd takes care of the rest. Th...
