Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Howdy all, Reached a milestone this weekend. Got the bilge pump in and after about 10 test fits, got all of the holes drilled, bait well pump situated, everything in place. I threw in some bilge paint left over from an old project, then put the sole back in. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpic...

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Howdy all, So I've been working on the plumbing for the live well and bait well before I close up the transom. It was a little bit of a head scratcher, and I didn't want to cut into the sole since I don't know where all of the cross stringers are. You can see from the brochure picture that the live ...

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Personally, I would drill a hole just larger than the drain piece, coat it with 3 coats of epoxy Haha, I just reread this and realized that I didn't carefully read it the first time. For some reason I never saw this part. I had it in my head that I needed to drill a hole considerably larger than th...

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Greetings,

I'm getting close to putting the sole back in and I'm thinking about faring. Quick question - do I need to put a sealing coat of epoxy before faring or on after faring? Also, I need to core some holes for the jackplate. Should I do that before faring or after faring?

Thanks!

Awesome, thanks! Yeah I was thinking that'd be tough to do.

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

I need to drill the hole for the garboard drain. Of course I want to core the hole with epoxy. :?: Do you guys typically drill a hole that the same size as the entire drain including the flange, so that the screws go into epoxy too? Or, do you drill a hole just larger than the drain tube?

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Stringers are now complete. I put three layers of 1708. I hope that's enough, seems like it would be since there's three layers of tape underneath.

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Transom is capped now. I wasn't sure if I needed to grind off the gelcoat before capping, but it's too late now :-)

Three layers of biax tape, one layer of 1708.

Re: 1975 Aquasport 19-6 Rebuild - and Questions!

Well nevermind. It turns out I was hallucinating, or something. That little drainage pan is hitting the stringer where it meets the transom. I took a shortcut and didn't do the stringers exactly like the originals. I think I'm going to correct it but just trimming that drainage section where it hits...
