I have decided to order the new WE12 plans. I have the following components: 1.5 gals epoxy lots of 6 and 12oz. tape. enough mahogany stock to use for visible battens 4 sheets 6mm plywood Now my concerns: How well will the mahogany take epoxy? Only vaguely remember there may have been issues with ma...

Re: Inside glassing FL14
Alpin, I did this to an FL12 and while the result was good the down side is a heavy boat. Like in the range a 150lb. I can barely move it. If you are willing to, and able to deal with the weight then go ahead. This boat is almost 10 years old and still rock solid. Does need paint though. Use 4 or 5 ...

Re: Fiberglass Tape for FL 14
Hi Alpin Yes to the biax cloth cut into strips. It is pretty heavy. I recommend a trip to the local sewing store ask for a rolling fabric cutter and some extra blades. put the cloth on a flat level surface and roll away. I have never worn out one of the cutters but have never cut a lot of fabric eit...

Re: Another FS14 in NC Buildthread
Hi Tim. I won't say this is the best method but it worked for me: If the boat is upside down, glass bottom and wait for it dry precoat the sides lay glass on bottom and wet it out. don't be to picky as much as you can with in a few minutes. pick up wet out glass and lay on the sides. I I actually fo...

Re: Plyak 12 and foam under the cockpit
Hi Dave,
easiest way to prevent disaster is just tape of or cover anything you do not want foam on.
It's not a beg area so you will probably have to do some trimming of foam top.
Hope that helps.

Re: Boy Scout Sailing Kayak
Well much as I hate to do it I am giving this boat away. I had visions of sailing off to the horizon while fishing. Which would be nice if I could pick it up. I thought this might be an issue but did not want it to go to strangers who did not know the owners. I contacted a local Boy Scout troop and ...

HI CBradley,
Put them in a dry shed or basement and wait. Also, heavy plastic and a sunny day.

Re: UglyBetty
Hi Madfly, It does not look like there are stringers. you frames formed by the seats. Nice size boat for flyfishing. If you are thinking of the transom needing to be replaced drill a couple of holes, maybe a half inch in the lower section of the transom, only through one side. if it is wet you shoul...
