I agree with Cape Man. Give it a little longer.

Re: Hello picking a boat for a guy in Kansas
Plenty of freshwater builders here!
Not sure how shallow you need to get, but ave you considered the GP21?

Re: Jon Boat Questions
Anytime you modify the plan, you are making some change, or possibly a 'compromise' to the designed safety or function... That being said, I built the GF12. I lowered the sheer, which wasn't difficult. I also made it narrower so that it would fit between my wheel wells in my truck bed. Completely re...

Re: Weight durability trade off of additional glassing on a canoe?
I am surprised that it is estimated to add 6 lbs. On the HC12, the tape for the lower and mid chines touched each other. All that was left was a long football-shaped section on the bottom that was exposed, very narrow and easy to fill in with a little extra glass, guessing less than 2 lbs. That gave...

Re: PancakePelc's HC16
I recommend taking your time figuring out the seat - give it a few trial runs. Play with the height, and location fore/aft. I built an HC-12 that felt tender out of the gate. I can now stand up in it. You will get more comfortable in it quickly! You don't want to lock in a seat position and then wan...

Re: GF16 fairing
It somewhat depends on what camp you are in, especially for the runners. -Some builders consider them an integral part of the boat. They are glassed in and heavily protected. If you plan to glass yours, then you definitely want to do it now, otherwise you will have more glass to fill/fair later. -So...

Re: GF16 Kansas build
I did a couple of dry runs when building my GF12. I ended up screwing these straight pieces of Ipe to the bottom to force out the rocker. http://gallery.bateau2.com/albums/userpics/18950/Bottom_Stitching_001.jpg 3/8" isn't much though. I don't think you'll have much trouble getting it to where ...

Re: Where is the Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) plan?
Thanks for all the input. Fallguy, sorry, but not near enough beer in your plan... I'm pretty good with Acad, and started sketching up what I want. It will have a flat bottom with a rocker, and will be built with 3 sheets of 4mm Okoume. only battens/frames on the inside, as rounded as possible...

Re: Where is the Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) plan?
Thanks for the input OWT. I'm tempted to buy a few sheets of the thinnest Okoume and start playing. Some of the racing SUPs I have seen have a v-hull, and that makes sense depending on what water you are cutting through. But I'm thinking for a general purpose SUP for inland lakes, a displacement fla...

Re: Where is the Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) plan?
I know that this thread is dated, but I just had my first SUP outing, and would really like to build one. If the SUP plans are too challenging, could I build the SK13 with no freeboard or transom, maybe even scale it down to 90%? Basically make it a dedicated SUP? Still pondering, I think a flat bot...
