The tops will glaze over if you leave it open for long, but unless you use the same tool to pick up each part it should be fine. I will never use anything else for fairing.

I started with a 40hp yamaha and built the OD18 to use it. After 8 years I upgraded to the 70. My OD is 300lbs fat (over plan weight) without the motor.

The 70 yamaha is an amazing motor, but my advice is go for the 90 on the Phantom as it's a heavier boat and designed for performance.

Did you go three or four blade? In turns, and running shallow, my switch to a four blade was a game change.

Took Clara out a few weeks ago on Tampa Bay and the Jack Plate was shutting down the GPS every time I used it and the water fuel separator that resides in the same hatch as the hydraulic pump had a slow leak out the top where the canister screws in. I have more issues when it's hot than cold, especially if laying down a large piece of glass. I only use slow hardner and just wait a bit longer if it's cool.
