Re: need paint recommendation

Looks like there's: primer, primer activator, primer reducer and topcoat, topcoat activator, topcoat reducer My surface will be a cured S3 epoxy. Does that require the primer? I've read that you're supposed to put a clear coat on the darker colors and so apparently you don't need it on a light color...

Re: need paint recommendation

Jaysen, thank you for the recommendation. Is EMC/Quantum a better brand than the Pettit EZPoxy top coat paint? I'm not familiar with EMC/Quantum. Are they commonly available? I was at West Marine and didn't see it there. (I don't know much about paints...) Jason

need paint recommendation

Years ago, I painted the interior of my GF18 an "off white" System Three paint. I didn't want bright white due to the glare. I purchased an 1985 Nauticat 44 motor-sailer that will eventually need it's top deck painted. In the mean time, I have some other items that need painting. I was goi...

Re: boat tender/dinghy w inflatable tubes???

Thank you Johnston. If I'm going to go the sponson route, those from easytowfenders are excellent. I put a link to them in my dinghy notes.

Re: boat tender/dinghy w inflatable tubes???

Thanks for the replies! I found this video of a guy who used some big drainage hose for a buoyant ring around his dinghy. It's a bit of a "Red Green Show" solution. I don't care too much how the dinghy looks, but my standards are high than this. At least they are for now. https://www.youtu...

boat tender/dinghy w inflatable tubes???

Hi, Dumb question here... I'm in the process of buying 44' sailboat and I'd like to build a dinghy for it. The biggest issue with a solid dinghy is their stability, especially when you're trying to get in and out of them from the water (say for snorkeling). However, if I could put some inflatable tu...

As a thank you for this guy, I'd be willing to donate $40 toward having Jacques send him the wood he needs. I totaled up the pieces for the GF16, and it comes out to $388 for Meranti 1088. Assuming shipping is around $100, I'd guess we'd need a total of $500 in donations. That's about 13 donations a...

I consider it dark to go treading into the wild and drag an animal from its den for five minutes of good tape so the network can make 5 million in ad revenues and I can have a bigger boat. I disagree with most of what you wrote, but I'll respect your opinions. Thanks for your comments. I think it's...

Croc One

I was really saddened to hear of Steve Irwin's death. Surprised that the adventurous people on this BBS didn't start a thread on it. Thought I'd share a link of his 70' boat. Apparently he had it only a little over a year. http://www.crocone.com.au/build.html Seems to have been well designed for his...
