Go For It!
Don't let anyone fool you. It will take more time and money than most people plan for, but having said that, I have had more paybacks in the goodtimes on the water with my family and with my father than you could ever put into dollars. With my FL14, I found myself totally consumed in the building pr...

I have a 30# minn kota with my FL14. I'm quite pleased with it's quality. I have had it out several times now without a problem. I run a single 12V deep cycle battery, and can run all day on lower speeds on the lake fishing, trolling, etc. Runs great with 3-4 people onboard in calm or light breeze. ...

I too have a 30# electric motor. I have been in a pretty good head wind and it holds it's own. It's not fast but it gets me where I want to go. I also cut my transom down just a bit for the motor. It worked out well. See my gallary at http://gallery.bateau2.comindex.php?cat=10098 You'll love the FL1...

Welcome to the FL14 Club
You won't regret your boatbuilding experience. I love my FL14 but have to admit, looking back, I would build the new FS14 also. You will totally enjoy either one.
Looking forward to pictures!

I am not able to get pictures at this time. The checking is caused from the stress from where the boat sits on the trailer bunks. I may have had the tie-downs too tight on my fishing trip. There is just enough flex that a very fine crack has begun to form. I need to modify the bunks to even out the ...

Epoxy compatablility for a checking repair?
I have some checking showing on the floor of my FL14. I glassed the exterior of the hull but not the interior. Yes, I was cheap when it came to the plywood. The boat turned out way better than I ever imagined. http://eshare.hpphoto.com/start.asp?JobID=824cfd93-24e0-4e69-bd2a-ee6d718a14d9 I sh...

The outside of the hull is covered with 6oz. I embedded silica sand in the paint that is on the floor. It made an excellent non-slip floor but I'm not looking forward to sanding it off. I think it will have to be removed and I will put down 4 or 6oz cloth. I might have to modify the bunks on the tra...
