Re: FS17 outboard selection...again

Bill,

Great summation. If anyone should be able to answer this, you should.

I'm considering this the final word on the subject!

Re: FS17 outboard selection...again

Thanks Bluefish and everybody else. I'm guilty of doing a lot of forum reading and little building in the last few years.I've been watching the FS17 builds come together all that time. What I've seen is that folks with 25hp are suprised by what the boat will do,and folks with 40-50 hp hem-haw around ...

Re: hunting and eating wild pig?

After finding a DNR hog distribution map,it looks like you guys in the lowcountry swamps have hogs coming out your ears. 8O I'll try to hook up with some ole boys up around Pickens and contact an old friend down in Marion. I understand and appreciate the etiquette of traditional southern hunting tra...

hunting and eating wild pig?

I'm not really a hunter, but I love good BBQ and DNR is practically begging the folks in upstate SC to thin out the pig population. Also, there just might be a fun factor that you can't get sitting in a deer stand. Is it safe to eat these pigs? I always take my BBQ slowly to 190-200 degrees so will I ki...

Re: FS17 outboard selection...again

Hey!..I joined five years ago, but am just today putting my money and time where my mouth is!

It seems that just as many people start at 25 and want to go up ,as there are people who start at 40 (or 50) and want to go down.

I have to pick one!

FS17 outboard selection...again

Still many months away from a splash, but I'm considering options. If I go new I'm thinking ETEC 30 or 40hp four stroke.Good used outboards are crazy expensive these days! Will a 30etec get the job done?

Re: outboard FL26

In thinking about an outboard FL26,I had no thoughts of changed performance characteristics.I would want a low HP motor hidden in a well.It seems that the other posters generally agree. That boat is just too classy to hang an outboard off the transom! :help:

outboard FL26

I have almost bought the FL26 plans several time, but heres the situation.I'm sure this applies to many builders. I mostly sail/boat on a 52,000 acre impoundment of the Savannah River. We are about 200+ miles from the coast.Just about the only diesels are on old cruising sailboats or a handful of mons...
